Privacy policy
This privacy policy describes how Vehicle Plainly handles website information, contact emails, technical logs, optional analytics, and partner lookup forms.
Overview
Vehicle Plainly is an independent informational publisher. It provides used-car research guides, not vehicle reports, official database access, owner lookup, or private registration access.
This policy applies to the Vehicle Plainly website. It does not control the privacy practices of third-party sites, official agencies, report providers, or partner lookup providers.
Operator and contact
VehiclePlainly is operated by LEGITIME DOMAINS d.o.o., Ulica Stjepana Gradića 1, 10010 Zagreb, Croatia.
Privacy questions can be sent to contact@vehicleplainly.com.
Information you provide directly
If you email us, we receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address, message content, and any URLs you include.
The site does not currently describe user accounts or a newsletter signup. If those features are added later, this policy should be updated before they are used.
Sensitive information not wanted
Do not send sensitive personal information or private records through the site or general contact email, including:
- Driver license numbers, Social Security numbers, government IDs, or passwords
- Vehicle owner personal information or private registration records
- Bank, payment, financing, or full insurance documents
- Legal documents unless specifically requested for an editorial correction
- Children's data or information about minors
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, hosting, security, and performance systems may log technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, referring page, requested URL, and request timestamps.
These logs help operate the site, troubleshoot errors, protect against abuse, and understand whether pages are loading correctly.
Analytics, cookies, and attribution
Where analytics is enabled, usage information such as pages visited and approximate device or browser information may be collected through configured analytics tools.
No site-owned advertising cookie is required for reading the educational guides. Partner lookup forms may include affiliate attribution fields, and third-party partner sites may use their own cookies or tracking under their own policies.
If advertising cookies, a newsletter, or materially different analytics tools are added later, this policy and related disclosures should be updated.
VIN, plate, and partner lookup forms
Some pages include a partner VIN or license plate lookup form. When you submit one of those forms, the VIN, license plate, state if applicable, and affiliate attribution fields are sent by your browser to the third-party partner provider named by the form destination.
Vehicle Plainly does not operate an official lookup database and does not use those forms to identify vehicle owners, access DMV databases, access NMVTIS directly, or guarantee complete vehicle history.
Vehicle Plainly does not currently store submitted VIN or plate values in a site-owned user account or lookup database. The partner provider may process, store, price, and display results according to its own terms and privacy policy.
Contact email communications
We use contact emails to respond when appropriate, track corrections, review disclosure questions, and improve editorial quality. Do not use contact email for owner-identification requests or non-public record requests.
Purposes for use
Information may be used for these limited purposes:
- Operate, secure, maintain, and troubleshoot the site
- Respond to inquiries, corrections, privacy questions, and disclosure questions
- Improve guide quality, site navigation, accessibility, and performance
- Measure aggregate usage when analytics is enabled
- Attribute partner clicks or form submissions where affiliate tracking applies
- Prevent abuse, protect the site, and comply with law
Third-party services
Information may be processed by service providers needed to operate the site, such as hosting, security, analytics, email/contact systems, and performance tooling.
Partner lookup providers or affiliate platforms may receive information when you submit a partner form or follow a partner link. Their terms and privacy policies apply to their services.
Data sale and sharing boundaries
Vehicle Plainly does not sell owner-identification data, does not provide private registration access, and does not access DMV databases directly.
Vehicle Plainly does not sell submitted VIN or plate inputs as a site-owned data product. If you submit a partner lookup form, the submitted information is sent to the partner provider as disclosed near the form.
Partner links may include tracking parameters for attribution if used.
Third-party links and official sources
Our guides may reference external sites such as NHTSA, NMVTIS-related educational pages, state agencies, or commercial providers. Their privacy practices are governed by those sites.
Data retention
Server logs and email records are kept only as long as reasonably needed for security, troubleshooting, compliance, and editorial follow-up.
Partner lookup providers control their own retention for information submitted to them.
Your rights and choices
You may use browser controls to limit cookies where applicable. You may choose not to email us or not to submit partner lookup forms.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or limits on certain personal information. Send privacy requests to contact@vehicleplainly.com.
For official vehicle record questions, use official or authorized channels instead of sending private details to Vehicle Plainly.
Security
We use ordinary website security practices and service providers to operate the site. No website or email system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Do not send sensitive personal, payment, insurance, legal, or private registration information unless specifically requested for a narrow editorial purpose.
Children
The site is intended for general adult informational use and is not directed at children under 13.
International visitors
If you visit from outside the United States, note that information may be processed where hosting providers operate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as site tools or practices change. Material changes should be reflected on this page.
